How to Innovate a Professional Services Firm

Last month, I was invited to speak at the Launchpad Meetup at EY in Amsterdam. Launchpad Meetups are a great initiative by TheNextWeb , StartupAmsterdam and EY to connect disrupting startups with innovative multinationals. Together with Owlin and SmartenUP, I talked about how to innovate a professional services firm.

In my presentation I referred to Mary Meeker’s Internet Trends, which was released earlier this year. The report contains valuable insights on the current state of internet and technology. The part of the report on re-imagining enterprise computing (starts at slide 28) is relevant for the topic we discussed at EY.

Changing one business process at at a time is essential for innovating with software in a large organisation.

Looking at impressive companies such as Domo (simplified business analytics), DocuSign (e-signature and transaction solution), Slack (business communications), Zenefits (effortless HR) and others, you’ll see an important similarity in their approach on innovating large enterprises: Focus.

Instead of implementing a back-office that wants to deal with everything all at once, fast-growing enterprise solutions are targeting and solving one pain point at a time. This results in new solutions that provide actionable insights on existing data.

TIQ was founded with the same philosophy. Time tracking is often seen as one of the features in an enterprise back-office suite, which comes with a lot of frustration. At TIQ, we focus on this single pain point to deliver the best solution, integrated in your current IT infrastructure.

Feel free to get in touch. I'm always happy to talk.
